PharmaKomply is an “Electronic Inspection and Monitoring System” for documentation of total and complete compliance with JCAHO standards for medication storage in the wards and clinics of the hospitals. It has all the inspection criteria used by VA, and more are available on as and when need basis. The compliance is further enhanced by automated scheduling of the inspections.

FULLY INTEGRATED WITH VISTA AND FACILITY'S INTRANET:
The application is interfaced with VistA. There is no need to memorize any new login information. All personnel would use their existing VistA access codes. List of personnel including the nurses on duty is available, for the selection during inspection to identify the nurse who actually witnessed the inspection event
The application Provides Instant access to all facility intranet web pages, like the number for poison control center or list of look-alike sound-alike drugs etc. Real time information regarding inspection, correction acknowledgement is sent to all stake holders via outlook messages.
SECURITY OF THE DATA:
The Data remains within fully secure on the servers located inside the VA Facility behind the facility fire walls.
Does not require the users to access the application through the internet on servers located outside VA facility i.e. the data does NOT go out to servers hosted by a Non-VA organization.
No one other than the designated individuals have access to the Data all information is fully secure.
INSPECTION CRITERIA:
The application has configured the currently approved 32 inspection criteria. It also has the ability add new criteria if need be or amend the current criteria if and when required.
INSPECTION SYSTEM MADE ERROR PROOF:
The fields that require mandatory documentation have been made compulsory. An inspector cannot proceed without filling the mandatory inspection data like Refrigerator temperature, Crash Cart #, Lock #, Expiration-Date etc.
The system automatically enters "NO" to indicate an outlier status when, the refrigerator temperature is NOT between 38 and 46 degrees Fahrenheit or the date on the crash cart has expired.
HIGHLY VISIBLE SMART ICONS:
A red icon is displayed next to "performed Inspection” if an outlier was identified during the inspection.
After the corrector has documented the correction and made a note in the comment area this red icon turns green. As soon as the nurse acknowledges the inspection an "Ack" icon appears next to the inspection. A red flag icon is displayed for overdue Inspections if there are any.
COMPREHENSIVE REPORTS:
Reports showing trends of results by each criterion or by each ward provided.
RECORD AVAILABLE ALL THE TIME:
No need for last minute scrambling at the last moment during or before the Joint Commission inspection all information available on line instead of paper files.
